Across Russia, kindergartens are increasingly holding parent meetings dedicated to patriotic education of preschoolers.
We found hundreds of reports about such meetings in VK communities of kindergartens.
The topics speak for themselves:
“Raising future patriots”
“Patriotic upbringing in the family”
“Raising a patriot from early childhood”
“Creating conditions for raising a young patriot in cooperation with the family”
“The goal for parents was to improve their competence in the moral and patriotic upbringing of children,” — reported Kindergarten No. 6 in Ozernovsky.
At these meetings, parents take part in various “patriotic” quizzes, games, and training sessions. For example, in one kindergarten, parents were asked to describe what comes to mind when they hear the words “Motherland” and “patriot.” In another, they were divided into teams — “Pilot Caps” and “Girls” — and asked to form new words from the word “STATE.”
In Kindergarten No. 32, a psychologist was invited to speak with parents about the “peculiarities of how young children perceive patriotic values” and to give advice on how to reinforce these values at home.
“Patriotic upbringing of a child is the foundation for forming a future citizen. First and foremost, we must ensure that a small person becomes a ‘Person’ with a capital letter,” — Kindergarten “Golden Cockerel”.
Sometimes parents are also involved in joint activities with their children. For instance, Kindergarten No. 91 “Snegurochka” held a workshop titled “Letter to a Soldier,” which, according to organizers, is meant to instill in children a “sense of pride for their country.”
The main goal of these meetings, as openly stated in reports, is the “unification of efforts between kindergarten and family in patriotic upbringing.”
“Only through the combined efforts of the family and the kindergarten can we achieve results — raising a true patriot of the Motherland,” — Department of Education of Yoshkar-Ola.
