Chronicles of Indoctrination

Patriotism as the main goal of education, a "funtuzum" scandal over green hair, weapons-themed school quizzes, and mass enlistment of children into "Yunarmiya" — this is how the past week looked in Russian schools.
📌 The main goal of education — raising patriots
MSU Rector Viktor Sadovnichy stated that Russian schools must "not just train professionals, but raise true patriots." President Putin echoed this message, telling lawmakers that Russian youth are "showing patriotism and readiness to defend the Motherland."

📌 “What is this funtuzum?!”
In Cheboksary, the principal of School No. 6 lashed out at a student and her mother because of the girl's green hair, threatening to place her under “in-school supervision.” The principal called the student a “funtuzum” and claimed the school charter bans “abnormal hair color.” However, the charter makes no mention of hair color.
📌 Gunsmith Day for schoolchildren
Across the country, schools held special events for "Gunsmith Day." Students disassembled rifles, solved weapon-themed puzzles, and studied the "history of Russian weaponry." In Udmurtia, hundreds of schools hosted a 47-question “Weapons Dictation” — the number chosen in honor of the AK-47. The event was organized by the government-backed youth group “Movement of the First.”

📌 Thousands of children join Yunarmiya
This week, thousands of students joined the militarized youth organization “Yunarmiya” in various regions of Russia: 300 in Kirov, another 300 in Krasnodar Krai, over 100 in Kursk Oblast, and dozens in Arkhangelsk. Children pledged to “be loyal to their country and the brotherhood of Yunarmiya.”
