This week, gubernatorial elections are taking place in Perm Krai — and once again, authorities are using children for political propaganda. Dozens of schools and kindergartens hosted events under the unified slogan “I Choose Perm Krai.”

Children were taught about elections, ballots, and the role of the regional governor. High schoolers were introduced to campaign platforms of the candidates, and in some schools, teachers openly showed students portraits of the current governor, Dmitry Makhonin (example). Younger students and kindergartners took part in games like “Elections in the Glade” and “Forest Governor.”

To “reinforce their knowledge,” parents were instructed to take their children with them to polling stations between September 12–14. Teachers were asked to collect proof in the form of photos from voting locations and children’s drawings about the elections.

“The children have a small practical task — to attend real elections with their parents, see firsthand how voting works, and share their impressions in the form of a drawing.” — School No. 24, Perm
“Take a photo together so this important moment for the entire region is captured in memory and history.” — School No. 14, Perm
“This is very important for developing legal literacy. The teaching staff will be grateful for your support and participation in civic and legal education.” — School No. 133, Perm
“Come to the elections with your children! It will not only be your civic duty, but also a valuable educational experience for your children.” — Administration of Beryozovsky District
